Results for the first-ever Monday Powerball drawing
No one hit the big jackpot in the first Monday drawing, but one player in North Carolina missed it by just one number – the Powerball. The Match 5 win was worth a cool $1 million.
Five other players also technically missed it by one number. Those players matched four white balls and the Powerball to win $50,000.
There was a slight snag in the inaugural Monday drawing. The drawing was delayed by less than an hour due to two lotteries needing extra processing time. A Powerball.com presser explained:
“Powerball has strict security requirements that must be met by all 48 lotteries before and after each drawing to produce official draw results. Without the draw results, the next estimated jackpot cannot be calculated and, in some jurisdictions, prizes on winning tickets cannot be paid.”
