NC winner quickly cashes in on $1 million
The Wednesday drawing for Powerball proved lucky indeed for Charles Darkwah of Greensboro, NC. Darkwah’s $2 ticket yielded him a cool $1 million before taxes and withholding. The ticket matched all five white balls, which is good for the game’s second-place prize.
As a reminder, the winning numbers were 07 – 29 – 36 – 41 – 43 with a red Powerball of 05. The winner was purchased at Circle K on North Main Street in Archdale.
Darkwah claimed his prize in person on Thursday at the NC Lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After the required withholding for federal and state taxes, his win was worth $707,501.
