Borgata Casino Now Live in PA

A familiar name has crossed bridge from New Jersey and arrived in Pennsylvania.

Borgata online casino made its PA launch on Wednesday, Feb. 24 in partnership with Rivers Casino Philadelphia.

BetMGM, the online and retail sportsbook brand of the Borgata, came to PA in Dec. 2020 and partnered with Hollywood Casino Morgantown. However, in the Commonwealth, an iGaming and sportsbook app do not need to share the same land-based operator.

“There are few casino brands as well-respected as Borgata, evident by the success we’ve seen with the Borgata Casino app in New Jersey,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. “Pennsylvania marks an important milestone for us as we introduce the Borgata Casino brand to the first state outside of New Jersey. We’re confident that players in Pennsylvania will enjoy the digital betting experience of Atlantic City’s premier casino.”

A Borgata online sportsbook could potentially follow in PA. But it would need to find a new partner as Rivers already has its BetRivers online sports betting brand.

Record-breaking month for PA online casinos

Online casinos in Pennsylvania experienced a record-breaking January posting more than $80.4 million in total iGaming revenue. It broke the previous high set in December by 11%.

The more staggering increase comes from year-over-year comparisons. Total iGaming revenue in PA skyrocketed 476% from Jan. 2020 to Jan. 2021.

Borgata’s big online growth

A land-based leader in Atlantic City, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has shifted its quest for dominance to online. In NJ, Borgata and its internet partners reported a 168% year-over-year increase from NJ online casino revenue in 2020.

In addition, a $208.2 million online win accounted for 36% of Borgata’s total gaming revenue last year, according to data released by the Division of Gaming Enforcement.

A Borgata PA poker room is expected to follow casino into the Keystone State.
