Eagles Chargers Week 9 prop betting

After beating the winless Detroit Lions, the Philadelphia Eagles face the easiest schedule the rest of the way. They are coming off a blowout victory on the road against the winless Detroit Lions and now return home to face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 9.

Can NFL prop bettors expect a similar offensive outburst from the Birds? Are the Eagles going to make a run for the playoffs or is this team still in very much in rebuilding mode?

Quick quiz. Who averages more points per game, the Eagles or the Chargers?

Believe it or not, it’s the Eagles (25.4 ppg) just barely edging out the Chargers (24.6).

The Eagles will look to contain Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, but he is a different signal caller than Jared Goff.

Prop bettors will will be looking to catch “lightning” in a bottle with a well-picked and priced prop bet. Let’s take a look at Pennsylvania sports betting apps for NFL Week 9.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Philadelphia Eagles betting odds

The Eagles are currently 0-3 at home and would love to capture the first win Sunday.

Herbert and Hurts quarterback props

As for the prop bets, the DraftKings PA sportsbook Weekly Special focuses on the game’s young quarterbacks. Jalen Hurts and Justin Herbert are two of the league’s most exciting players. Herbert is ranked No. 8 in passing touchdowns with 16. Hurts is among some impressive company (Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson, Ryan Tannehill) with 10.

DraftKings Weekly Special

  • Hurts and Herbert to combine for Over 499.5 passing yards and Over 4.5 passing touchdowns: +300.

The over/under for Hurts’ passing yardage is set at 230.5. Herbert’s total is set at 285.5.Both sides of the over/unders are priced at -115.

For Hurts, the passing touchdown total is set at 1.5, with each side listed at -115.

Herbert’s over/under is set at the same number but carries different prices. The Over is -180. The under is +135.

Chargers vs. Eagles rushing props

With Eagles running back Miles Sanders out until at least Week 11, Boston Scott steps into the spotlight.

Scott has the highest rushing total among Philadelphia’s running back platoon (Jordan Howard and Kenneth Gainwell will also get carries) at 44.5 yards. Each side is priced at -110.

However, Jalen Hurts still has the highest rushing over/under on the team with a number of 49.5. The Over has a price of -120. The under is -110.

For the Chargers, Austin Ekeler’s rushing yard total is set at 63.5.

Chargers vs. Eagles receiving props

The trade of Zach Ertz to Arizona has opened up more playing time for Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert. Goedert led the Philadelphia receivers in receiving yardage totals on Sunday. He has an over/under of 58.5, with each side priced at -115.

Rookie DeVonta Smith’s numbers are:

    • Over 56.5 (-120)/Under 56.5 (-110)

Chargers receivers totals:

  • Keenan Allen: Over 68.5 (-110)/Under 68.5 (-120)
  • Mike Williams: Over 55.5/Under 55.5 (-115)
  • Austin Ekeler: Over/Under 40.5 (-115)

Eagles offense props

Oddsmakers don’t expect the Eagles to duplicate their offensive fireworks from last week. After scoring 44 points against the Lions, DraftKings has Philadelphia’s team total set at 23.5 points this week. Here are the numbers:

Eagles Team Total

    Over 23.5 (-125)/Under 23.5 (-105)

Eagles Team Touchdowns

    Over 2.5 (-120)/Under 2.5 (-120)

Chargers Team Total

    Over 25.5 (-115)/Under 25.5 (-115)

Chargers Team Touchdowns

    Over 2.5 (-160)/Under 2.5 (+120)…

The Eagles might be underdogs Sunday, but one more win would get them right back into the NFL postseason picture.

Maybe the win against Detroit was just a mirage. Or maybe it was the first sign of a mid-season turnaround.

We’ll learn a little more on Sunday.
