That kind of cash could get you more than 450,000 Shortis and over 740,000 Sizzlis. It might even buy you a whole Wawa.
And one lucky Powerball winner in Pottstown will now have to decide exactly what they “gotta have” with $2 million after buying a ticket at the Wawa on 260 W. Schuylkill Rd.
The ticket matched five of the white balls 20-31-38-40-49 to win the $2 million jackpot. The ticket did not match the red Powerball (21), but did earn an extra million by having the Power Play option. (Without it, the ticket would only have been worth $1 million).
The Pottstown Wawa will also get a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The never-ending debate between Wawa vs. Sheetz for convenience store supremacy has another added layer.
On the other side of the state in North Huntingdon (east of Pittsburgh), a Match 6 player just won a $3.74 million jackpot from Sunday’s drawing. That ticket was sold at a Sheetz at Ronda Court near Route 30.
PA Lottery draw games online
If you don’t want to brave the parking lots of Wawa, you don’t have to. You don’t have to leave your couch to play the Pennsylvania Lottery. Tickets for the Powerball, Mega Millions, Cash 4 Life, and Treasure Hunt games can be purchased online via desktop or the PA Lottery’s official app. However, players must have a VIP/iLottery account in order to purchase the tickets. Those accounts are free and registration can be completed in a matter of minutes.
What to do if you win the Powerball
Pennsylvania Powerball winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prizes. The identity of this particular winner is still uncertain. Lottery officials recommend that the winner of this particular ticket should sign the back of it and contact the nearest lottery office.
Treasure Hunt winners split six-figure prize
Last month, three winning tickets were sold in the PA Lottery’s Treasure Hunt drawing on August 25th.
The winners will split a jackpot of $130,000, with each player earning $43,333.50 (before taxes). Each ticket matched all five drawn numbers:8-9-20-25-27.
One ticket was sold at a Giant food store in Selinsgrove. The remaining winners were sold at opposite ends of the state. One was purchased at a Wawa in Montgomery County (near Philadelphia). The other was sold at a 7-Eleven in Westmoreland County (near Pittsburgh).
The Treasure Hunt win continues a lucrative stretch for lottery players. Last month, a player from Erie County took home $207,323.34 in the online game Jungle Tumble jackpots, the PA Lottery’s first progressive jackpot online game.
PA Lottery generated record revenues in 2020-21
The Pennsylvania Lottery generated a record profit of more than $1.3 billion during the 2020-21 fiscal year. It was the tenth consecutive year the Lottery generated more than $1 billion for programs that benefit older Pennsylvanians. Those programs include property tax and rent rebates, free and reduced-fare transportation, prescription assistance, and much more.
