Temple betting preview 2021

Temple football finished the 2020 season with a 1-6 record. A rough year on North Broad Street caused a number of comings and goings and there are new faces everywhere. Take quarterback, for example. Last year, Anthony Russo was Temple’s leading passer. Now, he’s at Michigan State. And D’Wan Mathis, who played at Georgia last year, is slated to start for the Owls.

The story at running back is similar. Leading rusher Re’Man Davis left for Vanderbilt. Now, a pair of transfers will lead the running game. Iverson Clement from Florida and Ra’Von Bonner from Illinois should be the featured backs in Temple’s offense.

Pennsylvania sports betting apps have low expectations for Temple as they are a projected by oddsmakers as the biggest long shot to win their division and have a low win total.

College football Week 1 promos at sportsbooks

The “border war” between Temple and Rutgers is one of 16 games on Thursday night that will help kick off college football Week 1 action.

DraftKings is also offering an incentive alongside the Georgia-Clemson showdown that should  give players some extra cash for the college football season. The “Hammer the Over” promotion currently sits at 21.5 points and will drop even lower every 2,500 bets. The max bet is only $25, but the chances of winning should end up close to a sure thing.

With the first game just a few days away, Temple announced its 2021 captains in a tweet on Tuesday. Defensive lineman Adam Klein and safety Amir Tyler were selected to lead the team.

The offense didn’t produce any captains, but wide receiver Jadan Blue, a former all-conference selection, should be a key contributor on that unit. And Mathis, the transfer quarterback, should play a pivotal role as well.
