Things are looking up. If nothing else, the improved conditions of the COVID pandemic should help push Temple Owls men’s basketball to a more stable season. Last year, the Owls had five stoppages because of coronavirus protocols and stumbled to a 5-11 record.
This year, Temple is ranked eighth in the American Athletic Conference preseason poll. Houston and Memphis are expected to lead the league. But the Owls roster features four returning starters, which should give the team some experience to build on.

Temple 2021-22 men’s basketball players to watch
The Owls will be led this season by sophomore guard Khalif Battle. Battle averaged 15.0 points and 6.4 rebounds/game last season and was named a third-team All-AAC selection. Other key players include:
- Damian Dunn – Averaged 13.5 points/game last season
- Jake Forrester – Averaged 9.3 ppg and 6.4 rpg last year
- Jeremiah Williams – 9.3 ppg, 4.1 apg as a starter last season

Temple opens the season on Wednesday with a home game against Maryland Eastern-Shore at 7 p.m. The Owls other prominent games include:
