For today’s drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot passes the $100 million mark for the first time since the most recent win. That Grand Prize up for grabs is $106 million for April 12.
Many jackpot winners choose to take the lump sum cash value of the prize in a single payment. For this prize, that would amount to an estimated $65.3 million – before Uncle Sam takes a bite of that pie in the form of federal taxes.

The last time a player hit the Mega Millions jackpot was last month in the March 8 drawing. A nice $128 million prize went to a player in New York. Only one other jackpot has been won this year, on Jan. 28. That was a big one: $426 million went to a player in Woodland Hills, California.
The last jackpot won in PA made number nine on the list of the top ten highest Mega Millions payouts in history. That prize was up to $516 million. A five-person trust, created to keep the winners’ identities under wraps, claimed that half a billion dollar prize.
