Minnesota had its first Mega Millions jackpot winner on Tuesday. A lucky player there was the only winner of the $110 million Grand Prize. Four players in other states won $1 million or more, including two in New Jersey.
Pennsylvania players did not show on the list of higher-tier winners this time around.
For this Friday night drawing, April 15, the Mega Millions jackpot resets to $20 million, with a lump sum cash value of $12.1 million. Remember that players have the same chance of hitting the big prize no matter how high or low the jackpot is, or how many other tickets are sold.

PA has had twice as many jackpot winners as MN
Tuesday’s win in MN had been a long time coming. Mega Millions has been available in the state since 2010, the same year it became available in PA. By contrast, PA has seen two Mega Millions jackpot winners. With a population less than half that of PA, MN has only about half the number of potential lottery players.
The winning ticket was sold in Ramsey, MN at Holiday Stationstores. As part of an incentive bonus structure in place for lottery retailers, the store will receive a $50,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
We may never know who the actual winner of the prize is, because in MN, lottery winners of over $10,000 have the option to remain anonymous. Laws regarding winner identities vary by state and lottery jurisdictions.
In PA, certain winner information is made public by law. The PA Lottery says this ensures transparency, because everyone can see that the winner is a real person.
