For tonight, May 18, the Powerball jackpot prize is over $100 million for the first time since the last jackpot was hit exactly three weeks ago. The official prize estimate is $101 million, paid out in 30 installments. If a potential winner wants the cash all at once, the lump sum value is $59 million, before taxes.

On Monday, one player in Georgia matched the first five white balls, but not the Powerball, to win a prize of $1 million. That player was the only one to hit that prize this time around. Five players matched four of the five white balls, plus the red Powerball, to win $50,000. And just one player matched the same numbers with Power Play to double their prize to $100,000.

Check the Powerball winning numbers below, after the drawing at 11:00 p.m.

Did you know this lottery trivia?

Powerball and Mega Millions are both multi-state lottery games, which originally operated only in separate states.

It wasn’t until 2009 that the Multi-State Lottery Association and Mega Millions consortium of states made an agreement to allow lottery jurisdictions to sell both games. The games began sharing jurisdictions in 2010.

Before the agreement, only certain shrewd retailers could pull off selling both game tickets at once. These were stores that sat on state lines that were able to offer lottery games from two states.

One such retailer was located on US Route 62 in Sharon, PA, straddling the Ohio state line. They sold Powerball tickets via the PA Lottery and Mega Millions tickets via the Ohio Lottery.

These days, in most participating states and jurisdictions, you can find both of the major jackpot games for sale.

Online lottery sites are also restricted by state lines

Only some states have legalized online lottery ticket sales and online gambling. The PA online lottery site for example, requires players to be within state lines in order to buy tickets or play the online games. Powerball, Mega Millions, and most PA Lottery draw games are available to buy online, only at its official site.

If you haven’t yet, you can sign up for iLottery today and receive a $20 free play bonus and get a deposit match bonus up to $500.

As always, have fun and remember to play the lottery responsibly.
