The third and fourth Mega Millions jackpot winners this year both hit their big win last week. As usual, the top prize for tonight’s drawing has reset to $20 million. The lump sum value of the prize is $11.9 million.
You don’t have to hit the jackpot in order to become a millionaire. A player in Iowa matched the first five numbers in the last drawing, winning the second-tier prize of $1 million.
Players have a chance to multiply any prize other than the jackpot, by adding the Megaplier option to their ticket when purchasing. The Megaplier costs $1 extra, and multiplies those prizes based on the multiplier number drawn, up to 10x! The IA winner would have come away with $4 million if they had used the Megaplier.

Two winners in a row has happened before
Last week was not the first time Mega Millions had jackpot winners in two consecutive drawings, though it is rare. The last time it happened was in July 2016.
However, Tuesday’s big win was a first for the state of Minnesota. There hasn’t been a top prize winner in that state since they began offering Mega Millions for sale in 2010. The MN player won the jackpot prize of $110 million.
Friday’s $20 million winning ticket was sold in Tennessee. That makes two jackpot wins for TN since 2010. The last one hit in TN was in 2014.
