Mega Millions kicks off the month of May with the first drawing on May 3 offering a jackpot prize of $57 million. The lump sum value of tonight’s jackpot is $33.9 million before applicable withholding.
Will this month be as lucky as last month? Two Mega Millions jackpot prizes were hit in April, for a total of four so far this year. That puts Mega Millions outpacing Powerball by one, in terms of top prizes paid out so far in 2022.

Mega Millions is picking up the pace
This year is also outpacing last year for Mega Millions. 2021 had a total of six jackpot winners in the whole year. At the current number of four so far in 2022, it’s likely we’ll see more big winners than last year.

The second highest Mega Millions prize last year was won right here in PA, and made No. 9 on the list. A five-member group of individuals bought that ticket in Bucks County, and won the $516 million jackpot on May 21.
So far, no prizes won this year have cracked the top ten.
