Just over three weeks after the last Powerball jackpot was hit in Arizona, the Grand Prize has inched its way up to a whopping $117 million for tonight, May 21. That’s a $15 million increase from the previous drawing held on Wednsday. The lump sum cash value for tonight’s prize is estimated at $68.4 million, before Federal and State withholding.

No one hit the Top Prize on Wednesday, but one Ohio player got lucky and matched the first five white balls. With the Power Play option on their ticket, their prize was doubled to $2 million. Power Play is the $1 ticket option that multiplies all prizes except for the jackpot.

Check the Powerball winning numbers below, after the drawing at 11:00 p.m.

Jackpot winner from January finally surfaces in California

Way back on Jan. 5, two tickets hit the seventh-largest Powerball jackpot ever. A couple in Wisconsin came forward quickly to claim their half of the $632.6 million prize, but the CA Lottery awaited their winner for over four months.

The second winner, who bought his ticket at a 7-Eleven in Sacramento, chose to take the lump sum payout. Though significantly less than the annuitized amount, the cash prize is still a huge $225.1 million before taxes.

The 7-Eleven on the corner of Wyndham Drive and Valley Hi Drive in Sacramento where the ticket was sold received a $1 million bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The Director of the California State Lottery, Alva V. Johnson, took the opportunity to highlight the Lottery’s benefits to retailers and CA communities, saying: “Every dollar or more that a Lottery player spends in California supports our mission to raise money for public education. And the local stores that sell our games … benefit too from commissions and bonuses.”

Online Lottery also benefits communities and offers the same chances at big jackpots

With the PA iLottery, you can buy tickets for the same big jackpot games including Powerball, Mega Millions and other PA Lottery favorites. In addition, the online instant win games are a blast. Proceeds from game sales benefit older PA residents just like when you buy in person.

Join the PA iLottery today, and you’ll get yourself some benefits as well. Use our code PLAY20 to get a $20 free play bonus and a deposit match up to $500 when adding money to your player account.
