If a winner chooses to take the prize all at once in a single payment, they get the lump sum cash value of the prize, which is $99.8 million.
In Saturday’s drawing, among the thousands of non-jackpot winners, a player in Luzerne County rose to the top, winning $100,000 by matching four of the first five numbers, plus the red Powerball. That prize would have been $50,000 without the Power Play option on the player’s ticket.
Power Play costs $1 and multiplies all lower-tier prizes by the multiplier number pulled in each drawing. The second-tier $1 million prize is doubled with Power Play, regardless of the multiplier drawn.
