NFL Week 6 Odds For PHI vs. MIN: Eagles Road Underdogs Against Vikings

Any win in the NFL is a good win. Any win against a Luke Falk-led New York Jets should be taken with a grain of salt. The maligned Philadelphia Eagles defense got a dose of confidence while the offense sputtered en route to a 31-6 win. A visit to Minnesota presents a much tougher task for the Birds. The Vikings will look to unleash Dalvin Cook, who ranks second in the NFL in yards from scrimmage (524), on the Eagles still-unproven D.

Most online betting sites in Pennsylvania have the Eagles as 3-point underdogs for their visit to Minnesota.

Eagles vs. Vikings preview

The Vikings (-5.5) visited the Giants and slowed the Daniel Jones hype train with a 28-10 win. It was a healing effort for the Vikings, too. With rumblings of the offense being one-dimensional, quarterback Kirk Cousins passed for a season-high 308 yards. Cook continued to roll with 218 total yards.

The Vikings game marks a tough, possibly season-defining stretch for the Eagles. All six of their next opponents currently have winning records and are a combined 22-8. The Vikings offensive arsenal with Cook and wide receivers Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs present perhaps the toughest task for the Eagles defense this season. Cousins is 5-3 against the Eagles while putting up some gaudy numbers (2,423 pass yards, 17 TDs, 5 INT)

Carson Wentz continues to guide the Eagles offense. Although, without wide receiver DeSean Jackson, it’s been limited. For the second-straight week, Wentz did not complete a pass for more than 20 yards or throw for more than 200 yards.

It looks like Jackson’s abdominal injury will sideline him at least another week. Joining him on the shelf is running back/punt returner Darren Sproles. The Vikings stingy defense won’t make things easy for the Eagles. They rank fourth in the league in total team defense and are only giving up 14.6 PPG.

New York Jets vs. Philadelphia Eagles: A look back

The Eagles defense, decimated by injuries and torched for the most passing yards in the NFL, finally showed life. They accounted for 10 sacks, two interceptions, and scored half of the team’s touchdowns. The offense wasn’t as explosive as advertised. They posted only 265 yards and three second-half points.

Still, the Birds made sports bettors in PA in happy.

The Eagles were bettors’ biggest victory of the weekend. Seventy-five percent of tickets were on the Eagles to cover the 14-point spread and 95% on the Eagles to win outright. They were among the most popular bets for Week 5 alongside the Patriots -16 (88%) and Bears -6 (78%).
