The 4-9-1 Philadelphia Eagles jumped out to a 14-3 lead against the Dallas Cowboys, and the Carolina Panthers were dominating Washington and Dwayne Haskins from the start. Unbelievably, the Eagles’ playoff hopes were still alive. But not for long.
In perhaps the worst division in recent memory, the Eagles quickly proved they were possibly the worst of a bad bunch. The Cowboys exposed the Birds’ fatal flaws — a depleted secondary, lack of offensive weapons, and questionable play-calling — en route to a 37-17 win. There were self-inflicted wounds, too. The Eagles had six false starts.
In addition to a quarterback controversy and calls for the coach and general manager’s firing, the loss eliminated the Eagles from playoff contention.
Eagles Twitter was at full throat.
