Why You Can’t Bet On Logan Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather Fight at Pennsylvania Sportsbooks

Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul odds, why you can't bet in PA

In sports, the possibility of an upset or a Cinderella story is always appealing. That seems to be the case as Logan Paul prepares to fight Floyd Mayweather on Sunday, June 6.

Mayweather is 50-0 as a professional boxer. Paul, who’s best known for his YouTube videos, is 0-1.

So many think the result is almost a foregone conclusion, that Mayweather will cash a check and win another fight just as he always has.

And while Logan Paul is clearly the underdog, he has done a good deal of talking himself up to help the public believe he has a chance.

“I think on June 6, we are going to find out why there are weight classes in boxing. I’m not some guy going in there and tapping you,” Paul told CBS Boxing.

Of course Paul has never been shy about promoting this fight – or himself for that matter.

“I ain’t got pillow hands. I hit hard and I’m fast and I’m tall. I’m long and I’m strong. I’m angry and I want this.”

Why can’t you bet on Logan Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather in PA?

As entertaining as it promises to be, the Logan Paul vs. Floyd Mayweather fight at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Beach, Florida is merely an exhibition bout. Because of that designation, the fight will not be regulated by the Florida State Boxing Commission.

Without regulation by a state commission and with no judges and no decision to come at the end of the fight, bettors may not wager on Mayweather vs. Paul at legal, regulated sportsbooks.

DraftKings Sportsbook PA does, however, offer a free contest that comes with a $50,000 prize pool. To get a piece of the pool, you’ll have to correctly answer several questions dealing with outcomes during the fight.

  • Will the fighters touch gloves before the fight?
  • Will the fight go the distance?
  • How many knockdowns will there be?
  • Will there be a knockdown in the first four rounds?
  • Does either boxer touch the ropes during the first round?
  • Who will be interviewed first after the fight?
  • Will Logan Paul call out his next opponent during the post-fight interview?
  • Will Floyd Mayweather say this is his last fight during the post-fight interview?

DraftKings also set “entertainment odds” on Logan vs. Mayweather

While you cannot legally bet on the Mayweather vs. Paul fight on June 6, DraftKings Sportsbook did set “entertainment odds” on the bout. Presumably these are odds that DraftKings would offer if the fight was regulated by a state commission and legal to wager on in the US.

Fight Winner odds:

  • Floyd Mayweather: -1000
  • Logan Paul: +650

Total Rounds odds:

  • Over 5.5: -110
  • Under 5.5: -110

To win by KO/TKO/DQ:

  • Mayweather: -160
  • Paul: +1000

Fight to go Distance:

  • Yes: +168
  • No: -200

Former Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco will make his boxing debut

The undercard for the Paul/Mayweather card changed somewhat due to a failed drug test. According to Mirror, Jean Pascal was removed from the fight card after testing positive for three banned substances.

Pascal, a light heavyweight champion, was supposed to fight Badou Jack in a rematch from a prior fight that ended with a controversial split decision. Now, Jack is hoping to stay on the card and fight another opponent on short notice.

“My fight with Jean Pascal is OFF as he tested positive for 3 different steroids,” Jack wrote in a Twitter post that was shared in the Mirror article. “We suspected he was dirty the first time around and VADA (the drug testing group) confirmed it this time. I’m still fighting on June 6th and my team is looking for a replacement opponent.”

In another fight, Jarrett Hurd is set to take on fellow American Luis Arias.

And in a made for publicity match, former NFL wide receiver Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson will make his debut in what is billed as an exhibition bout.

There’s no doubt the upcoming boxing card is equal parts spectacle and athletic event. But there’s no doubt that it should be entertaining too.

Even though you can’t bet the fight in PA, the entertainment factor should be plenty high.
