Four Powerball players will be having happy holidays indeed, after winning millions on Monday’s drawing. Three players, hailing from GA, MD and NY matched the first 5 balls to win $1 million each. Another player in NC did the same, but opted to spend the extra $1 for Power Play when buying their ticket. The Power Play option increased their winnings to $2 million.
No jackpot winner on Monday means it keeps stacking up for the Dec. 22 drawing— this time to $378 Million. If a potential winner chooses the lump sum cash option, they’ll take away $275.9 million before taxes.

Power Play Multiplies PA Winner’s Prize
Like the NC winner mentioned above, a PA winner on Monday multiplied their winning prize as well with Powerball’s Power Play option. Matching four balls plus the red Powerball would have grossed them $50,000. But with the 4x multiplier drawn on Monday, the lucky player’s prize came out to, you guessed it, $200,000!
The winning ticket was sold in Allegheny County at GetGo on East Waterfront Drive. The store will receive a $500 bonus for selling it.
There are many smaller prizes won on Powerball tickets as well. Winners aren’t known until a winning ticket is validated and the prize is claimed. Always check all your tickets using the ticket checker at any lottery retailer, or using the PA iLottery official app.
