This week has been huge for the multi-state lotteries. On Tuesday the Mega Millions drawing produced four Match 5 winners who will receive prizes of $1 million each. The bigger news comes from Wednesday’s Powerball drawing where the skyrocketing jackpot was finally hit.
That means that the current Mega Millions jackpot is the one to watch. For Friday, Jan. 7, the Grand Prize sits at $253 million, with a lump sum cash value of $175.6 million. The Powerball jackpot resets to $20 million for Saturday’s drawing.

Two Players Split Seventh Largest Powerball Jackpot
After 13 long weeks with no top prize winner, the Powerball jackpot was finally won. The estimated $632 million prize will be split between the two winners hailing from WI and CA. According to the Wisconsin Lottery, the winning ticket, worth an estimated $316.3 million, was sold in Green Bay. The CA ticket was sold in Sacramento.
The historic drawing produced a slew of other winners, big and small, including a $100,000 winner right here in PA. The ticket, sold in Somerset County, matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball. Spending the extra $1 to add the Power Play option doubled that prize from $50,000.
Twelve other players matched the first five balls without the Powerball, and will take home $1 million each. Two more matched five with the Power Play option, doubling their prizes to $2 million. In total, over 3 million tickets won prizes from $4 to $2 million.
