PA bettors frustrated with FanDuel

Will the FanDuel Sportsbook app work during the time leading up to playoff games and the Super Bowl? It’s questionable.

According to tweets from @FanDuel_Support and frustrated users, the online sportsbook regularly experiences problems on NFL Sundays and it also experienced issues on Dec. 28, the day of the College Football Championship playoff games.

Here is the tweet repeated almost weekly:

FanDuel down with traffic up

Upon login, the app says it may take up to two minutes to verify location. However, it usually takes less than ten seconds. It appears the issue comes when logging in during peak times such as the hour before kickoff for games on NFL Sundays.

On Sunday, Jan. 5 at DownDetector.com, 977 people reported issues with FanDuel.

Comments from Twitter expressed anger and frustration. Now, at this point of the NFL season, a “same old same old” refrain comes from commenters. Some demanded site credit and others said they were fed up and headed to DraftKings Sportsbook.

FanDuel tweeted this on Jan. 4 which is different from some of its previous messages about problems:

Playin Pennsylvania submitted a request to FanDuel for comment and will follow up on this matter.

FanDuel still rules in PA

FanDuel’s technical issues haven’t slowed its growth in Pennsylvania.

Since entering the PA market in late July, it has dominated. In November, of the $266 million bet online, FanDuel took $150 million worth of the bets. If users are truly getting tired of the apps issues, it has yet to reflect in the numbers.

FanDuel PA online sports monthly numbers

MonthTotal HandleGross Revenue
July$3,259,840$133,730
August$35,279,681$2,042,424
September$85,128,312$4,736,979
October$113,935,565$5,645,194
November$149,744,241$5,638,115

However, with DraftKings now in its second month and the NFL postseason and bowl games piquing bettors’ interest, it could prove to be an inopportune time for off-putting tech problems.
