The Cincinnati Bengals clawed their way out of a 21-3 hole against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game to rally to win 27-24. Two years after a 2-win season, the Bengals are Super Bowl-bound. The Bengals opened the 2021 NFL season +6500 to win the AFC Championship.
The Los Angeles Rams trailed 17-7 in the fourth quarter against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game and managed to score 13 points in the final eight minutes to win 20-17.

Betting insights from Caesars Sportsbook
A few hours after the Super Bowl LVI matchup was set, Caesars Sportsbook moved the Rams from -3.5 to 4.
Craig Mucklow, Caesars Sportsbook VP of Trading, said:
“The biggest factor is the Rams have been there recently. Sean McVay has been there before. They lost to the Patriots three years ago but will learn from that experience. They are all-in this year as they proved by the trades that they made. Although, we wrote off Joe Burrow against the Chiefs, we are not going to write him off again because that kid is unfazed by anything that happens. But the Rams’ experience and their defense puts the line at 4. If there is much movement, it would likely be tonight, assuming there no major health issues that would drastically impact the line. It will sell on Monday. We already took $180,000 on the Rams moneyline, so we moved off that. After tomorrow, I don’t think it will move, at least not because of money anyway.”
Caesars’ reps noted this will be the 13th-straight Super Bowl with the favorite laying fewer than seven points. The current total is 50 points and if that holds until kickoff, it would be the fourth straight Super Bowl that the total points is 50 or more. The three previous Super Bowls have gone Under.
Mucklow predicted betting action:
“What will happen is the public will bet the dog – the Bengals – on the moneyline, the Rams on the spread and they’ll bet the Over,” said Mucklow. “So, if the Rams cover and the game goes Over, it’s the public’s Super Bowl. We want a close, competitive game. The last thing we want is a blowout because it spoils the in-play. With close games, the market lives longer. People can bet on them as well and everybody’s ticket is alive. It makes it more fun. We would prefer a low-scoring, competitive game.”

At Caesars Sportsbook, the Rams were +1400 at the start of the season to win the Super Bowl, the 4th lowest odds. The odds dropped to +650 after Week 8 and then rose to a season-long +1300 after a 3-game losing streak in November.

Bengals were big underdogs to win AFC; one of biggest dogs to ever make the Big Game
The Bengals’ preseason odds to win the Super Bowl were between +12,000 to +15,000. The Rams were +1500 to win the Super Bowl and +650 to win the NFC Championship.
The Bengals didn’t crack the Top Ten for handle for AFC Championship winner futures at DraftKings early in the season. But in November, they were first for handle (28%) with only 2% of the tickets.
The Bengals were +12500 in Week 1 at Caesars to win the Super Bowl. They were tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Jets for the 3rd longest odds. The last team with 125/1 or greater preseason odds to make it to the Super Bowl was the 1999 St. Louis Rams at 150/1.
