The Pittsburgh Steelers are entering a new era. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger retired after 18 seasons. The Steelers never had a losing season with Roethlisberger under center which makes this offseason a pivotal one.
Who will be the Steelers starting quarterback in 2022 is the biggest question of the Steelers’ 2022 offseason.
They could bring in a veteran quarterback or address the situation in the upcoming NFL draft. Oddsmakers expect the Steelers to select a quarterback.

Pittsburgh Steelers mock drafts
NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah does not have the Steelers taking a quarterback in Round 1. Instead, he has them selecting LSU cornerback Derek Stingley, Jr. with the 20th pick.
Jeremiah says:
“This would be a fun fit in the Steelers’ secondary. When healthy and dialed in, Stingley is a top-five talent in this class.”
ESPN’s Mel Kiper has Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett staying in his college town at No. 20. Maybe he can keep his dorm room.
Kiper’s explanation:
“Will Pickett go higher than No. 20? Probably. But without trades and with the Saints getting two instant starters and forgoing a quarterback in this scenario, Pittsburgh is the most logical landing spot for him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he beat out Mitch Trubisky.”
In Yahoo Sports’ latest mock draft, they also have the Steelers taking Pickett in the first round.
In the DraftWire’s mock draft, they have the Steelers trading up with the Falcons from No. 20 to No. 8 to select Liberty quarterback Malik Willis.

With the retirement of Roethlisberger and the tragic death of Dwyane Haskins earlier this month, the Steelers only have two quarterbacks on the roster, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph.

DraftKings lists the Steelers at +350 to draft either Pickett or Willis.
Willis is -155 to be the first quarterback selected. Pickett has the second-best odds to be the first selected at +130. Willis’ draft position is set at 10.5 (-115) and Pickett’s is 12.5 (-115).

Steelers interested in Mayfield?
The Steelers might not be in the market for a quarterback if the Browns release Baker Mayfield. Mayfield is the odd quarterback out in Cleveland after the Browns traded for Deshaun Watson last month.
ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported that the Steelers would sign Mayfield “the very next day” if he is cut. Mayfield would likely start over Trubisky.
