The SugarHouse Online Sportsbook & Casino in New Jersey reports that 80 percent of its sports betting action is by way of mobile betting.
PlaySugarHouse.com says that it has more than doubled its month-over-month New Jersey online gambling revenues from August 2018 to September 2018. Mattias Stetz COO of Rush Street Interactive, which operates the online operation, commented:
“Our casino bets have also grown since the launch of sports betting. Thanks to the deep integration of the sportsbook and the casino in both Android and iOS mobile apps and the desktop site, and players being able to use the same account and wallet, PlaySugarHouse.com casino has also grown across the board.”
SugarHouse soon launching sports betting in Pennsylvania
Sugarhouse has applied for a Pennsylvania sports betting license. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) should conditionally authorize that license at the end of October. That will trigger the launch of live sports betting at SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia.
If SugarHouse follows the pattern announced by Parx and Penn National, online sports betting will follow shortly. The PGCB gave Penn and Parx the go-ahead to launch their sports betting at its meeting on Oct. 3. First though, the groups must satisfy a couple dozen different conditions.
Two other casinos have also applied for sports betting licenses. Rivers Casino and Harrah’s Philadelphia applications are in, so there will be at least five operators offering sports betting in the Commonwealth.
Parx said at last week’s meeting it hoped to launch in November. Realistically though, the first chance customers will have to place sports bets in Pennsylvania will probably be in December. Online betting available should launch some time in Q1 of 2019.
In-play betting is growing, too
Now that the football season is underway, SugarHouse has found that the NFL is the most popular sport with New Jersey bettors.
This is in line with the experience in Nevada where the most popular sports for betting are the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL, in that order.
SugarHouse is offering many different ways to bet on football matches while games are actually going on:
“There are at least 50 different betting options during any given game, allowing players to bet on things like how many touchdowns a quarterback will throw, the outcome of the current drive, or if a team can cover the spread.”
To which Stetz added:
“We see that the player base is continuing to grow as the word spreads about the quality and volume of the different live in-game bets at PlaySugarHouse.com. We are at the start of the football season and are excited to see our numbers keep climbing.”
Cash out bets early
One of the other innovations that PlaySugarHouse offers is the ability to cash out a bet early. That is, after a bet has been placed, but before the outcome of the bet is known, bettors can cash out their position.
So if a bettor places a bet and then decides that the game isn’t going the way he expected, he or she can cash out based on the prevailing odds. Conversely, if the game is going well and the bet looks like it will pay out, bettors can take their winnings early.
Pennsylvania sports fans will soon have plenty of options to wager on their favorite teams. And many ways of placing bets that will be new and exciting.
