Ready to hold’em and fold’em on a live Twitch stream?

Sure, Pennsylvania online poker only just started live testing yesterday, but it is not too early for PA poker players to think ahead about what the future brings.

Players in Pennsylvania and elsewhere can eventually sync up their play on PokerStars with their Twitch channel. PokerStars will integrate Twitch directly into the online poker platform. This allows players to be eligible for even more rewards and promotions through the Stars Rewards program.

Associate Director of Group Public Relations for The Stars Group Rebecca McAdam shared the excitement surrounding the imminent integration of PokerStars and Twitch.

“This is something we’ve been building towards for some time now as part of our commitment to continuously improving our players’ experience with us, and making the game as thrilling as it can be. We cannot wait to get things started.”

PokerStars projects Twitch integration for PA and the US by mid-2020

Obviously, while Twitch integration by midyear of 2020 is the goal, McAdam cautions that it will be dependent on testing and compliance with the local regulations.

“The timing to go live in specific jurisdictions will be determined during testing. Some will go live later this year and we expect a global roll out to be completed in 2020. Account linking is expected to be available to our real money customers in the U.S., including New Jersey and Pennsylvania in time, within the first half of 2020 and again, in compliance with local regulations.”

What about players in the rest of the US?

So, what if you are a player who does not live in a state where regulated online poker is offered? McAdam explains the importance of all US players to PokerStars.

“The US is home to an important, very active and engaged portion of our streaming community. Those players not in states where we offer real money online poker should be able to link their dot net accounts later this year. Obviously, there are limitations. We cannot offer rewards with a monetary value in these cases. However, there will be plenty we can do to take their experience with us to another level.”

For $4.99 a month, players can also subscribe to the PokerStars Twitch channel via an extension.

As of now, every viewer who subscribes and links their PokerStars’ account wins a “Chest” through the rewards program. In this chest, players are eligible to win tournament tickets and cash prizes. As McAdam mentioned, though, what is in the chest depends on what jurisdiction the PokerStars’ account is in.

When PokerStars rolls out the in-client integration, the ease of use for players will be incredibly convenient. Besides the various promotions through the loyalty program, Twitch may also pave the way for a lucky PA poker player to become a Stars-sponsored professional through the 2020 PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC).
