Fire up your phones, the newest online betting app is headed to Pennsylvania on Monday.
Sources confirmed to Playin Pennsylvania that FanDuel Sportsbook at Valley Forge Casino is starting the first of three days of online testing monitored by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). Once these three days of supervised testing go off without a hitch, the app can roll out 24/7 availability.
The URL for the PA version of FanDuel is pa.sportsbook.fanduel.com.
The plan was to launch at 4.p.m on Monday, but technical difficulties led that time to change to 7:30 p.m.
The testing hours are as follows:
- Monday, July 22: 7:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.
- Tuesday, July 23: 2 p.m. – 12 a.m.
- Wednesday, July 24th: 12 p.m. – 12 a.m.
Features of FanDuel Pennsylvania
Once live, FanDuel surprised plenty of users with its offerings. The desktop version and apps offer all the same range of bets with what appear to be the same odds as well.
In fact, you don’t even need to use a different app. For both Android and iOS, it appears you just have download an upgrade to your existing FanDuel apps and the app will do the heavy lifting of geolocating which state you are in.
Users are already Tweeting about downloading and using FanDuel’s iPhone app in New Jersey, which means we seem to have not just another iPhone option, but PA’s first sports betting app for iPhone.
Additionally, it appears you don’t even need a new account. Logging in with your existing credentials will get you access to the site. More importantly, according to FanDuel support, it gives you access to your New Jersey funds as well. If that remains the case, it means much less of a headache for players bouncing back and forth between the two states.
FanDuel already market leader in New Jersey
If you’re skeptical that a daily fantasy sports site can offer much in the way of sports betting, FanDuel is actually one of the early leaders in the expanding US market.
In New Jersey, FanDuel’s sportsbook at The Meadowlands is the top-performing retail sportsbook by a margin. More importantly, though, it is also one of the big two in the online betting space. When it comes to Pennsylvania, the retail sportsbook at Valley Forge is generally in the middle of the pack when it comes to handle and revenue. However, as we have seen from SugarHouse, the addition of online is absolutely a game-changer.

Just because FanDuel will be in a testing phase does not mean there will be no offer for new players. In New Jersey, the current offer is a $500 risk-free bet.
The way a free bet works is that the site will match the size of your deposit up to a certain amount, in this case, $500. Players need only place a single bet for up to that amount.
