In years past, instead of sports betting over the long Thanksgiving Weekend, you could once again have gotten stuck sitting at the adult table during Aunt Martha’s annual feast, facing a mound of lime green Jello and green been casserole.

That could have meant missing out on Thursday’s games:

  • Chicago Bears at the Detroit Lions
  • Buffalo Bills at the Dallas Cowboys
  • New Orleans Saints at the Atlanta Falcons

And shopping all day Saturday might have meant missing out on games like:

  • Ohio State University at the University of Michigan
  • Rutgers University at Penn State University
  • University of Alabama at Auburn University

Finally, on Sunday when you could be at a sports lounge catching the Browns at the Steelers or the Eagles at the Dolphins, you are instead tasked with hunting down with the top three Cyber Monday deals in advance so you are ready to roll at 6 a.m. Monday.

But take heart, sports fans! There are options galore this year in Pennsylvania, including several Thanksgiving-themed promotions at the top Pennsylvnaia sportsbooks.

First Thanksgiving with PA online sports betting

This Thanksgiving weekend is a brave new world. No need to trundle off anywhere to get in on the action.

This is the first-ever Thanksgiving in Pennsylvania where bettors can use online betting apps. That means betting is available from your phone, tablet, and laptop. Aunt Martha probably won’t even notice.

Even better, online sites are putting out a buffet of tasty promos to up the experience. The sweeteners include money back on parlays, parlay boosts, a new customer bonus on top of a new customer bonus, and triple money bets on Penn State.

Football and Thanksgiving are an American tradition

While online wagering is a new tradition in the making, Thanksgiving and football have grown together over the decades.

The first-ever football game was between Rutgers and Princeton universities in 1869. By 1876, the tradition of playing on Thanksgiving began with a contest between Yale University and Princeton.

The NFL adopted the tradition of football and Thanksgiving. The Detroit Lions have played every Thanksgiving since 1934, and the Dallas Cowboys since 1966.

DraftKings offering a feast of football promos this weekend

DraftKings Sportsbook is offering a special risk-free Thanksgiving parlay in addition to the standard new customer bonuses.

Here’s the small print on the parlay:

  • A new user must bet a single parlay with a leg on each of the three NFL games on Thanksgiving Day.
  • If the parlay hits, the bettor is paid normally. But if the parlay busts, the user gets a free bet matching their initial stake of up to $100.
  • Each user’s account should be credited by 5 p.m. on Dec. 4.

Also, if you place a parlay on three NFL games and win, DraftKings will pay out as if you hit an additional fourth leg. The promotion is available on all Week 13 NFL games, but to be eligible, bets must be placed on Nov. 28.

There are other promo goodies from DraftKings, starting with the giveback $5 free bet on Thanksgiving. Gamblers can choose their sporting event and wager on Nov. 28. Users must place their bet by the end of the day on Thanksgiving.

There is also an Eagles promo. If you bet on Philly to win against the Dolphins, you get $6 for every touchdown they score.

Finally, bet at least $25 on the total points for one of the NFL Thanksgiving games and get $5 for each turnover and $1 for every sack in that game.

FanDuel has a deal you can use all holiday weekend long

If you want to get some NBA betting done or put money on some NHL games, FanDuel’s Thanksgiving offer gives users the most flexibility on what kind of bets they can place.

New customers signing up at FanDuel Sportsbook get $20 in free bets just for making an account. No deposit is required. All you have to do is sign up between Nov. 25 and Dec. 2 and use the promo code TURKEY to get your free bets.

You can even combine this promo with the deposit bonus, which offers FanDuel customers up to $500 risk-free bet on deposit.

FanDuel will credit the bonus to your account within 72 hours of you activating the promotions. Customers then have seven days to place their free bets before the bonus funds expire.

Here are the promo details:
