Not All Eagles Futures Bets Are Losers, Yet

The Philadelphia Eagles approach the halfway mark of the NFL season, and it’s a good time to look back at their preseason futures markets. Hindsight is 20/20, and much like 2020, most of the bets on Eagles’ futures are a mess.

The Eagles are 3-4-1. They have been decimated by injuries, and Carson Wentz leads the league in interceptions with 12.

But hold those tickets.

Despite the Eagles’ struggles, they are in first place in the NFC East and are the favorites at PA online sportsbooks to win the division.

Bettors had high hopes for Birds, Chiefs living up to big backing

The Philadelphia Eagles started the 2020 NFL season with the seventh-best odds (+2000) at most Pennsylvania sportsbooks to win Super Bowl LV. At the midway point of the season, they are +5000.

Bettors in Pennsylvania had high hopes for the Birds before Week One. In early September, DraftKings released Philadelphia Eagles futures betting splits.

Here’s a breakdown:

Also, the majority of bettors at DraftKings believed the Eagles would hit the Over 9 win total (-134), with 72% of the handle and 70% of bets.

The reigning Super Bowl champs Kansas City Chiefs started their campaign to repeat with the best odds to win the AFC in addition to the highest handle and most bets.

NFL Season Leader betting markets update

(Odds via DraftKings)

Injuries for Zach Ertz, DeSean Jackson, Dallas Goedert and Miles Sanders have ruined their hopes of leading any statistical categories. Their absence, combined with his sporadic play, also dashed Wentz’s hopes of winning.

Sacks leader:

Brandon Graham (preseason odds +6600) is ranked third in the league with seven sacks.

Most interceptions thrown:

Carson Wentz (preseason odds +4000) leads the league with 12 interceptions. Kirk Cousins is behind him with 10.
