For Saturday, Aug. 22, the estimated Powerball jackpot will be $29 million. There is also a cash value or one-time payout of $23.5 million for any potential jackpot winner.
The last drawing, on Wednesday, Aug. 19, yielded winning numbers of 13 – 23 – 47 – 55 – 58 and a red Powerball of 23. And in fact, the Power Play multiplier was the maximum of 10x.
About the Powerball $1 Power Play option
As a reminder, the Power Play option is just $1, and it can be very important to increase your winnings. The only exception when the Power Play multiplier does not affect winnings is if you hit the big jackpot, or match all five white balls. In the latter case, your $1 million prize simply doubles to $2 million.
To clear up some misconceptions about the Power Play option, this separate number is actually drawn before the Powerball drawing. Also, it can only be a 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10.
Then, if you win a prize that is not the big jackpot, your prize multiplies according to the Power Play multiplier selected.
Additionally and most interesting, perhaps, is that the 10x multiplier is only available when the jackpot is less than $150 million or unless previously announced that it is not available.

One ticket matched all five white balls, which would normally yield a $1 million prize. Fortunately for the lucky winner, the Power Play option was selected, so the winning ticket in Virginia was actually worth $2 million.
