The Mega Millions just revised the estimated jackpot numbers again! Since Oct. 2018, the jackpot has never surpassed $600 million.
Tonight, which is Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Mega Millions jackpot rises to $615 million. That means a one-time cash option of $451.8 million.

First $600+ million jackpot hit in 2012
On March 30, 2012, history was made as the Mega Millions first surpassed the $600 million mark. At the time, a $656 million jackpot was split between winners out of Illinois, Kansas and Maryland. Moreover, this jackpot was the world record at the time due to the large amount.
To be fair, another $648 million jackpot hit the next year on Dec. 17, 2013 with winners from California and Georgia splitting that massive prize. Finally, on Oct. 23, 2018, the largest-ever prize was won out of South Carolina for an eye-watering $1.537 billion.
Five millionaires are made in the last drawing
That’s not to say that the previous drawing did not pay out. Indeed, four big Match 5 winners resulted from California, Georgia, Massachusetts and New Jersey for $1 million each. Also, another Match 5 winner that added on a $1 Megaplier option resulted in New York, turning the $1 million prize into $2 million.
As a reminder, the previous drawing on Friday, Jan. 8 had winning numbers of 3 – 6 – 16 – 18 -58 and a gold Mega Ball of 11. The Megaplier was 2x.
