Rivers Philadelphia and several other PA casinos recently earned dining awards.

Rivers Casino Philadelphia is the place to be this summer. The Fishtown casino in Philadelphia won seven “Best Of Dining” awards from readers of the Casino Player magazine.

While Rivers Casino Philadelphia has already gotten plenty of recognition, celebrity chef Steve Martorano is also finally coming to his native city. Martorano’s Prime isn’t quite open for business, however, Martorano has opened two grab-and-go options inside Rivers Philly.

Rivers Casino Philadelphia wins several ‘Best Of Dining And Nightlife’ awards

Readers of Casino Player magazine are fond of what Rivers Casino Philadelphia has to offer. With the emergence of Pennsylvania online casinos, retail locations have had to reinvent themselves to be more than gaming establishments.

Many casinos across Pennsylvania have invested in entertainment renovations such as restaurants, bars, ballrooms and hotels to appeal to the younger generation. Former Rivers Casino Philadelphia general manager, Justin Moore, told Playin Pennsylvania in January:

“We find that all guests are looking for great value and younger guests, in particular, gravitate towards experiential entertainment.”

Visitors are loving the dining experience Rivers Casino Philadelphia provides. The location won Best Overall Service, Best Casino Cocktail Service and Best Coffee Shop.

Two of Rivers Casino Philadelphia’s most popular restaurants, Jack’s Bar + Grill and Mian, also each won awards. Mian won Best Asian Cuisine and Jack’s Bar + Grill won the following awards:

  • Best Place for Cocktails
  • Best View
  • Best Happy Hour

Newly appointed general manager, Eric Althaus, said:

“Thank you to our loyal guests and the dedicated readers of Casino Player, who consistently vote for us as the number one choice across multiple categories. The delicious dishes served at Jack’s and Mian, coupled with the exceptional service provided by our Team Members, reinforce the position of Rivers Casino Philadelphia as one of Pennsylvania’s top casinos.”

Martorano’s Sicilian Slice is opening at Rivers Philadelphia

While Martorano’s Prime, an Italian-American steakhouse, isn’t open just yet, the Philly chef is debuting Martorano’s Sicilian Slice and Lilly Cakes, a dessert boutique.

Martorano’s Sicilian Slice features San Marzano tomato sauce and housemade mozzarella cheese, which is topped with Calabria oregano and fresh basil, all drizzled with Frantoia extra-virgin olive oil.

Some of Lilly Cakes’ items include:

  • Fluffy, sweet vanilla cake
  • Red velvet cake
  • Brown-butter heath bar cake
  • Banana cream pie

Althaus said:

“The new pizza and dessert grab-and-go options at Rivers Casino will be phenomenal. Sicilian Slice and Lilly Cakes use only fresh ingredients, and guests will enjoy this early taste of Steve and Marsha’s famous menu.”

Update on Martorano’s Prime opening

In the press release, Rivers Casino Philadelphia did not disclose an opening date for Martorano’s Prime.

Back in February, Rivers Casino Philadelphia started hiring staff as Moore said the casino was almost ready to announce the grand opening. The debut of Martorano’s Prime would be Martorano’s first restaurant in Philadelphia.

Some of his menu items include:

  • 16 oz. New York Prime steak
  • Linguine and clams
  • Bucatini carbonara
  • Meatballs with Sunday gravy
  • Spicy penne vodka
  • Veal chop parmesan
  • Filet Sinatra
  • Lobster francaise
