First place isn’t supposed to look or feel like this.
The Philadelphia Eagles looked more like cellar dwellers than a first-place team during another lifeless 22-17 loss.
After failing to convert any third downs last week (0-9), the Birds were hardly better during Week 11 and only converted two of 12. Quarterback Carson Wentz‘ nightmare season continued. He threw two interceptions — one was returned for a touchdown — and was sacked four times.
The 3-6-1 Eagles are still in first place in the NFC East. However, the Dallas Cowboys and Washington put up Week 11 wins, so every team in the NFC East has three wins. Washington visits Dallas on Thanksgiving.
Eagles Twitter could care less that the Birds are in first place. Many believe these Birds are already cooked. Carson Wentz got the stuffing beat out of him, and Doug Pederson’s play-calling brains are mashed.
Thanksgiving is a few days away, but Eagles Twitter is already boiling hot and ready to bench Carson and fire Doug and Howie Roseman.
Eagles disappoint bettors and fans (again)
Betting splits from FanDuel as of Sunday morning for Eagles vs. Browns:
- 65% of the money was on the Browns (-2.5) to cover the spread
- 59% of the money was on the Eagles (+120) moneyline
- 65% of the money was on the over (45.5). On Friday, 89% of the money was on the over (47).
At BetRivers, Eagles vs. Browns was the only game of Week 11 with the under backed by a majority of the public (68% of O/U handle). There were no offensive points during the first half for the first time this season.
The Eagles continue to disappoint fans and backers. They are 3-7 ATS.
Bench Carson chorus gets louder
Wide receiver woes
Alshon Jeffrey is clearly not a top receiver, or even one worth a roster spot anymore. He only played 7% of the offensive snaps on Sunday. And it didn’t go very well.
NFC Least
Mocking the NFC East doesn’t seem to get old.
