BetMGM announced this week the launch of their new PA online poker tournament event. The company is hosting an out of the park event called the Summer Classic Series. The tournaments will take the field in Pennsylvania from July 17-24.
“We’re excited to follow-up on the momentum we gathered in Las Vegas through this month’s online event, the Summer Classic,” said Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker, BetMGM. “The Classic, which spotlights America’s pastime, features buy-in levels and game variants for all players.”
The baseball-themed series will offer 25 events and over $175,000 in guaranteed prize pools. The series features buy-ins ranging from $30 to $535 and offers at least three tournaments daily.
Keystone State Swings For The Fences
To join in on the action, players must be located in the state of Pennsylvania. The series will also be offered to New Jersey and Michigan players as well, but the player pools aren’t combined. Each state hosts its own independent online series each month. All three markets are “ringed-in” environments, meaning players only compete with others within that state (for now). Guarantees differ per state.
In Pennsylvania, players have the option of entering the events through either BetMGM Poker or Borgata PA poker.
BetMGM PKO Grand Slam
The highlighted tournament in the series is Event 22, the Grand Slam. Pennsylvania will showcase the $400 buy-in tournament on July 24. It is a progressive knockout (PKO) tournament and comes with a $30,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Besides the PKO Grand Slam, BetMGM will offer other styles of tournaments that include heads-up, turbos, and freeze-outs (no re-entry). Each event has a baseball theme and some of the highlights include:
- $215 NLHE First Pitch PKO (Event 1, July 17) – $25,000 guaranteed
- $535 NLHE All Star Tuesday (Event 7, July 19) – $15,000 guaranteed
- $109 PLO Bases Loaded (Event 10, July 20) – $5,000 guaranteed
- $109 NLHE Walk Off (Event 24, July 24) – $15,000 guaranteed
