December 30, Chik-Fil-A Peach Bowl: Michigan State (10-2) vs. Pittsburgh (11-2)
Unfortunately, this game has received more attention for who isn’t playing than for what will happen on the field. Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett, who finished third in Heisman Trophy voting, will sit out to focus on the NFL Draft. The same goes for Michigan State star running back Kenneth Walker, who finished the season with 1,636 rushing yards.
Beyond that, the game is a big one for both teams, who exceeded expectations this season. Pitt finished 11-2 and ended Clemson’s six-year streak as ACC Champion. Michigan State went 10-2 after winning just two games in a pandemic-altered season a year ago. Both teams would be grateful for one more win in the Peach Bowl Thursday.

December 31, TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl: Wake Forest (10-3) vs. Rutgers (5-7)
Rutgers was a late addition to the Gator Bowl after Texas A & M withdrew from the game because of COVID concerns. The Scarlet Knights went 5-7 this season and have not been in a bowl game since 2014, the second-longest drought among Power 5 teams according to ESPN. Wake Forest is more than a two-touchdown favorite at most PA sportsbooks, but Rutgers would love to engineer an improbable upset in the Gator Bowl.

December 31, Goodyear Cotton Bowl: Cincinnati (13-0) vs. Alabama (12-1)
Cincinnati is also viewed as approximately a two-touchdown underdog in the first game of the college football playoff. The Bearcats’ defense has allowed only 16.1 points per game this season, but will face an imposing test against Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young and the Alabama offense.
The Crimson Tide has averaged 42.2 points per game this season. Cincinnati also has the added pressure of representing a non-Power 5 conference (American) and will want to have a good showing in the Cotton Bowl.

December 31, Capital One Orange Bowl: Michigan (12-1) vs. Georgia (12-1)
In the College Football Playoff nightcap, coach Jim Harbaugh and Michigan take on what is widely viewed as the nation’s best defense. Georgia struggled in the SEC Championship game against Alabama (losing 41-24), but surrendered just 9.5 points per game this season.
On the other sideline, the Wolverines hope to continue their late-season momentum after scoring 42 points each in consecutive games against Ohio State and Iowa. But at present, Michigan is about a touchdown underdog in the Orange Bowl.

January 1, Outback Bowl: Penn State (7-5) vs. Arkansas (8-4)
Penn State suffered through a rather disappointing 7-5 season, but could add some shine with a win over Arkansas. The Razorbacks are favored in a game that should have featured two dynamite receivers, but instead will be lacking in star power. Penn State’s Jahan Dotson had 91 receptions, 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, but opted out of the bowl game.
The same is true for Arkansas’ All-SEC receiver Treylon Burks, who finished the regular season with 66 catches, 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns. So Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford and Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson will have to look for other targets in the Outback Bowl on Saturday.
