DraftKings launches casino app in PA

Come on, get ‘appy! DraftKings launched a stand-alone mobile casino app on July 14.

DraftKings Casino debuted in Pennsylvania through its partnership with Hollywood Casino and was integrated with the DraftKings Sportsbook app in May. The new gaming app allows users to continue to link accounts across DFS, sports betting and casino sites and have a shared wallet.

In a press release, DraftKings said:

“iGaming fans in Pennsylvania will now have the opportunity to experience a more holistic product suite and dynamic gaming experience in a DraftKings-created casino app. The app features new games only found on DraftKings, plus revamped classics, including blackjack and roulette.”

iGaming doesn’t slow amid coronavirus

With coronavirus-caused mainstream sports shutdowns, iGaming has reached record numbers in Pennsylvania. Operators haven’t stayed on the sidelines. A FanDuel-branded casino app, the first stand-alone casino app in the state, arrived on June 23.

General Manager of FanDuel Casino Jesse Chemtob told Playin Pennsylvania at the time:

“We looked at this as a natural evolution of the casino product offering. Our goal is to provide an entertaining experience, one that people are excited to play. Trying to drive innovation in the marketplace over the long term will be how we continue to compete and take market share.”

DraftKings’ stand-alone mobile app went live in New Jersey in late June. Upon arriving in the Garden State, the multichannel provider of sports betting and gaming technologies cited the popularity of DraftKings-specific games for offering a casino app.

DraftKings did a study that revealed that 70% of new DK Casino customers place their first bet on DraftKings-branded games.

DraftKings Casino app

The DraftKings Casino app is available on iOS. It is not available for Android.

Here is how to download it:

  • Go to the App Store.
  • Type “DraftKings casino” in the search bar.
  • FYI – Despite it saying “DraftKings Casino NJ,” click “Get,” then “Install.”
  • Allow DraftKings Casino to use your location (allow while using app).

Games available at DraftKings Casino

The DraftKings Casino app in Pennsylvania has 16 table games, Game King Poker and 29 slot titles. Tuesday’s press release mentioned that customers in Pennsylvania will soon have access to the custom DraftKings Live Dealer Studio, which will operate 24/7. Currently, there are no live dealer studios in the state.

The biggest difference customers will notice from other online casinos is that DraftKings has branded and themed table games, such as:

  • DraftKings Blackjack
  • Classic Blackjack
  • Single Hand
  • Pride Blackjack
  • Retro Blackjack
  • Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Football and Hockey Blackjack
  • Lunar New Year Blackjack
  • DraftKings American Roulette
  • European Roulette
  • Basketball Roulette

DraftKings in PA and beyond

The company built on daily fantasy sports became publicly traded in April. DraftKings online sportsbook operates in Pennsylvania through a partnership with The Meadows. However, The Meadows did not apply for an online casino license. Instead, the DraftKings iGaming platform operates under Hollywood Casino’s license.

Penn National owns The Meadows and Hollywood Casino. Under the PA gambling expansion law, each land-based partner can have multiple interactive partners acting as skins.

Chief Compliance Officer Tim Dent said in May:

“DraftKings appreciates the collaborative working relationship we have established with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board and thanks them for their thoughtful leadership in creating a consumer-focused, competitive iGaming market.”

DraftKings says it’s ready to roll out its online casino in more states where regulations allow.
