Eagles Projected Last in NFC But Smith Odds Bring Hope

The start of the 2021-2022 NFL regular season is still four months away. However for Philadelphia Eagles bettors, the “early bird” could get better value at Pennsylvania sports betting apps.

With the NFL Draft complete, new betting markets have been added for rookies. And when reports surface about Green Bay Packers quarterback and reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers being unhappy, line movement is sure to follow.

Let’s look at the Philadelphia Eagles futures markets, player props and the early favorites to win Super Bowl LVI.

Philadelphia Eagles 2021/2022 odds

As always, you better shop around. Philadelphia Eagles future markets vary at PA online sportsbooks. Most books have the Eagles finishing last in the NFC East. Only BetMGM has the Giants (+500) in the cellar instead of the Eagles.

The Eagles went 4-11-1 last season and missed the playoffs for the first time in three years. Sports betting apps put the Eagles win total at 6.5 in the expanded 17-game season.

Philadelphia Eagles schedule, win totals and playoff chances

The Eagles and the rest of the NFL will know their upcoming schedule soon. The 2021 NFL schedule is set to be released on Wednesday, May 12 at 8 p.m. ET.

Non-divisional home game opponents for the Eagles in 2021

  • New Orleans Saints
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Kansas City Chiefs
  • Los Angeles Chargers
  • San Francisco 49ers

Non-divisional away game opponents for the Eagles in 2021

  • Atlanta Falcons
  • Carolina Panthers
  • Denver Broncos
  • Detroit Lions
  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • New York Jets

Philadelphia Eagles win totals over/under

  •  DraftKings: Over 6.5 (-143)/Under 6.5 (+118)
  •  Fox Bet: Over 6.5 (-143)/Under 6.5 (+110)

Philadelphia Eagles to make playoffs

  • DraftKings: Yes (+260)/No (-335)
  • Fox Bet: Yes (+275)/No (-400)

You can also bet on what place the Eagles will finish in the NFC East at BetMGM.

  • Division winner: +425
  • Second place: +300
  • Third place: +220
  • Fourth place: +170

At William Hill, the Eagles win total is set at 7…for now.

Nick Bogdanovich, Director of Trading for William Hill, commented on the NFC East:

“With rumors of how bad the locker room is in Philly, it’s all just negative news that people are reacting to. The money has been for the under, and I can see this number going down to 6.5. I think Dallas will be fine, and Washington and the Giants look to be improved. So it looks like the Eagles are clearly the weakest of the four, even though that wasn’t the case last season.”

Philadelphia Eagles player props and MVP odds

Currently at PA online sportsbooks, there are betting markets for MVP, Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Defensive Rookie of the Year.

It looks like second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts, who took over for ineffective and then exiled quarterback Carson Wentz will be the Eagles’ Week 1 starter.

Jalen Hurts MVP odds

  • BetMGM: +8000
  • DraftKings: +5000
  • Fox Bet: +7000
  • FanDuel: +7500

Other Eagles with MVP odds at PA online sportsbooks are Zach Ertz (+50000), DeVonta Smith (+50000) and Miles Sanders (40000).

The Eagles selected DeVonta Smith, the Alabama wide receiver and 2020 Heisman Trophy winner, with the No. 10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Smith led the NCAA in receptions (117), receiving yards (1,856), and receiving TDs (23) last season. However, concerns about his size (he’s 166 pounds) caused him to drop a bit. The addition of Smith gives second-year quarterback, and fellow Alabama alum Hurts a viable deep threat.

DeVonta Smith Rookie of the Year odds

  • BetMGM: +1600
  • DraftKings: +1400
  • FanDuel: +1700
  • Fox Bet: +1200 (currently boosted to +1600)

BetMGM already has betting markets for receiving touchdowns and receiving yards for some of the top rookie wideouts, including  Smith.

BetMGM:

  • Receiving yards Over 749.5 (-110)/Under 749.5 (-110)
  • Touchdowns Over 5.5 (+105)/Under 5.5 (-125)

Fox Bet:

  • Receiving yards Over 725.5 (-110)/Under 725.5 (-110)
  • Touchdowns Over 5.5 (+110)/Under 5.5 (-150)

The Eagles selected Memphis running back Kenneth Gainwell in the fifth round. His Offensive Rookie of the Year odds are +5000 at Fox Bet.

NFL 2021/2022 betting preview

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Kansas Chiefs 31-9 in Super Bowl LV. So, it should come as no shock that the Chiefs (+450) and the Buccaneers (+700) are the favorites to win Super Bowl LVI. Rounding out the Top 5 are the Baltimore Ravens (+1200), Buffalo Bills (+1200) and Los Angeles Rams (+1200).

The highest handle % for Super Bowl LVI futures at Bet MGM:

  1. Buccaneers: 28%
  2. Chiefs: 13.6%
  3. Broncos: 9%

Seamus Magee, Sports Trader at BetMGM commented:

“Since last Thursday, more than 40% of all bets have been on the Broncos to win the Super Bowl. BetMGM adjusted Denver’s Super Bowl odds from +6500 to +2000 and Green Bay’s from +1200 to +1600.”

Aaron Rodgers next team odds

Before the NFL Draft, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Aaron Rodgers is “disgruntled” and “does not want to return to the team.” Pro Football Talk said the trio of teams Rodgers reportedly wants to be traded to are the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, and Las Vegas Raiders.

The news sent Super Bowl futures on the move.

Super Bowl odds movement from April 27, April 30 to May 4 via DraftKings:

  • 49ers: +1600 to +1400
  • Broncos: +6000 to +1600 to +2200 (May 4)
  • Raiders: +6000 to +5000 to +6600 (May 4)
  • Packers: +1100 to +1600 to +2000 (May 4)

You can bet on where Aaron Rodgers will play in 2021 at DraftKings. However the betting market is not available in PA, and Jeopardy host isn’t an option.

The Top 5 teams with the best odds to land Rodgers are:

  • Green Bay Packers -135
  • Denver Broncos +150
  • San Francisco 49ers:+700
  • Las Vegas Raiders +900
  • New Orleans Saints +1200

The Philadelphia Eagles are middle of the pack at +2500.
