HPT Bringing Two Weeks Of Poker Action To The Meadows

Let’s get ready to rumble!

Starting today, the Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) kicks off at The Meadows Racetrack and Casino for the next 12 days. The tour awarded more than $2 million in prize pools since its inaugural stop at Meadows in 2017.

Tournament schedule includes $1,100 main event

Today, the action commences with a $350 no-limit hold’em (NLH) tournament with a $100,000 guarantee. But, that’s not all. The winner receives a custom wrestling style belt as a trophy to always remember the momentous win.

Is budget a concern? As can be seen on the schedule, HPT offers buy-ins as low as $90. Not interested in NLH? HPT offers enough variety such as a seniors event and a 7-Game Mix (Limit H.O.R.S.E., NLH, PLO) to whet any poker player’s appetite.

All the action culminates with the $1,100 Main Event on Oct. 4. Not only will this highly anticipated event draw a large crowd of amateurs and professionals (such as 2004 World Series of Poker champion Greg Raymer and Poker Hall of Fame inductee, Linda Johnson), but this event will be nationally televised. There will be a livestream of the action as well.

About Meadows Casino

Meadows Casino is located about 25 miles south of Pittsburgh. It holds the record for Pennsylvania’s largest jackpot ever paid.

With over 350,000 square feet in casino floor space, Meadows easily qualifies as one of the largest casinos on the East Coast. This casino features 81 table games, over 2,500 slot machines and even a poker room. What’s more? Restaurants and dining overlook the racetrack that includes VIP suites and a simulcast area. Lastly, an all-ages bowling center ensures all family members are adequately entertained.

A sportsbook is on its way to the property too. In August, The Meadows announced a partnership with DraftKings to bring both a retail sportsbook and a PA betting app to the state.

Online poker in PA

Looking for online gambling at Meadows? The Meadows is one of two casinos that declined to apply for online gaming. However, Penn National owns Meadows and Hollywood Casino. In particular, Hollywood launched the first online casino in PA. Online gambling officially went live on July 15. More recently, IGT announced a strategic partnership with Hollywood and Meadows.

But, what about online poker in the Keystone State? Despite rumors circulating the live launch, there is still no online poker but, it is expected shortly. PokerStars, in partnership with Mount Airy Casino, is widely expected to be the first operator to launch. For now, it is not a matter of “if” online poker launches in PA, but rather “when” will online poker officially launch.
