Mega Millions and Powerball jackpo

A single lucky ticket sold from a suburban Phoenix, Arizona convenience store matched all six Mega Millions numbers drawn Tuesday night for a jackpot win of $410 million, or $316.8 million if collected in a lump-sum cash payment. That’s the 11th highest amount ever.

There were plenty of smaller winners, too.

First Mega Millions jackpot for Arizona

It was the first time someone from AZ won the Mega Millions jackpot contest, which is also played in Pennsylvania. The last big Mega jackpot winner was from New Jersey.

The winning numbers Tuesday night were 1 – 5 – 9 – 10 – 23, and the yellow megaball was 22. The winning ticket was sold at Circle K in the suburb of Glendale.

AZ has an anonymity option, so the identity of the jackpot winner may never be disclosed. Since the law passed in 2019, no one has come forward publicly.

Additional smaller drawing winners, including in PA

Additionally, nine tickets from Tuesday are worth $1 million – two each in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Washington state, plus one each in Florida, Maryland, and Minnesota. Those players matched the five white balls.

Also, four Match 5 winning tickets are worth $2 million each because they added the megaplier, which was 2x. Two were sold in New York state, and one each in Mississippi and South Carolina. Mississippi had just joined in the multi-state lottery in January. This was the first big winner in that state.

There were 74 tickets matching four white balls plus the megaball in the third prize tier. Thirteen included the optional megaplier and are worth $20,000 each. The rest are worth $10,000 each.

In total, there were 1,130,902 winning tickets at all prize levels in the June 9 drawing.

Mega Millions last had a jackpot winner in NJ

The last time the big Mega Millions jackpot hit was February 11 for $202 million with a winner in NJ. The cash option was $142.2 million.

During the run between jackpots, more than 17.6 million winning tickets were sold.

The jackpot for the next drawing on Friday, June 12 resets to a starting value of $20 million, or $15.4 million cash.
