The Pennsylvania Lottery launched two new Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers-branded Fast Play lottery games this week.
The games, carrying the names of the state’s two resident NFL teams, offer progressive top prizes starting at $50,000. There are also second chances drawings with the chance to win game tickets, private event tickets, and autographed Eagles and Steelers merchandise.
PA Lottery Fast Play games
Pennsylvania Lottery Fast Play games are like scratch-off tickets that don’t require any scratching or draw tickets that don’t force a player to wait for a draw.
Tickets for Fast Play Games are available at the Pennsylvania Lottery network of over 9,300 retailers and various self-service lottery terminals.
Players can find out if they’ve won immediately after purchasing a ticket. PA Lottery retailers will scan the ticket, or players can use the PA Lottery mobile app’s ticket checker to see if they have a winner.
Some Fast Play games, including these Eagles and Steelers games, offer progressive top prizes that grow until they are won.
How to play Eagles and Steelers
The Eagles Fast Play game offers 20 progressive top prizes starting at $50,000. Tickets are $5 each. Each ticket contains a series of Your Numbers and Winning Numbers.
When any of Your Numbers matches one of the Winning Numbers, the player wins the prize shown under the matching number. When that number is on a football, the prize is doubled.
The overall chances of winning a prize are one in 3.97.
The Steelers Fast Play game is the exact same product with its own matching set of prizes.
Both games offer second chance drawings giving players the opportunity to turn a losing ticket into a winner. Although, players must join the PA Lottery VIP Players Club to get in on the second-chance drawings.
Each non-winning ticket can be turned into five entries into the three second-chance drawings. The three entry deadlines for the second-chance drawings are:
- Sept. 6
- Oct. 4
- Nov. 8
Entries roll over from one second-chance drawing to the next. Winners will be announced on the PAlottery.com website.
Like all PA Lottery products, players must be 18 or older to play these games.
This is not daily fantasy sports or legal sports betting. The Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers-branded Fast Play lottery games are simply an effort to capitalize on the popularity of the NFL in the Commonwealth.
However, the Pennsylvania Lottery hardly needs the boost.
PA Lottery posts record sales
In fact, PA Lottery officials announced earlier this month that it posted a record of more than $4.2 billion in sales in the 2017-18 fiscal year ending June 30, 2018.
Winners picked up more than $2.7 billion of that in prizes, which was also a record. Plus, more than $1 billion of that money went to programs to benefit older Pennsylvanians, in line with the PA Lottery’s mandate.
Licensed lottery retailers also earned more than $224.1 million in sales commissions.
Scratch-off tickets accounted for over 67 percent of total sales. In fact, the PA Lottery posted a record of more than $2.8 billion in scratch-off ticket sales.
Fast Play ticket sales totaled over $114.4 million. This marked the first full fiscal year of Fast Play ticket sales and the total exceeded estimates by more than $14 million.
The Pennsylvania Lottery also introduced online lottery products for the first time ever during this past fiscal year. Sales of its online instant win lottery games reached $20.8 million from the May 22 launch through June 30.
