What a difference a month and an iPhone app make.

After bringing up the rear in August’s PA online casino revenue report from the PA Gaming Control Board (PGCB), Hollywood Casino is the new leader in the clubhouse.

HollywoodCasino.com accounted for almost $1.8 million of the $4.1 million in revenue from online slots and table games in September. The bulk of the site’s nearly $2 million in revenue came from slot play. The slots produced $1.6 million for Hollywood. Meanwhile, table games produced just over $165,000, the lowest total of the three sites.

Hollywood is currently the only online casino in Pennsylvania with an iPhone app. When it launched with five games in August, it didn’t create too much fanfare. However, Hollywood rolled out new inventory last month, which might explain the big jump in activity. Total slot wagers more than doubled from $13 million to over $27 million. Table games experienced a big bump as well, jumping from $4.6 million in August to $13.7 million in September.

September PA online casino revenue breakdown

Here is a look at how each of the three online casinos performed last month:

CasinoTotal revenueSlots revenueTable games revenue
Hollywood$1,797,020$1,631,130$165,890
Parx$1,269,655$763,911$505,744
SugarHouse$1,068,683$840,072$228,611
Total$4,135,358$3,235,113$900,245

Total revenue for slots was up from $2.5 million in August to over $3.2 million last month. However, table game revenue was virtually identical, with just a $1,700 dip month over month.

SugarHouse’s Divine jackpots could explain dip in revenue

While Hollywood produced the most revenue, SugarHouse had the most activity of the three sites. Slot players wagered over $47 million on PlaySugarHouse, which is about half of the total wagers for the month.

However, revenue for the site was down 40% from last month. The most likely explanation is the progressive slot jackpot Divine Fortune.

September was a very lucky month for SugarHouse players, who hit the game’s top jackpot five different times for amounts ranging from $30,000 to almost $200,000. The jackpot did not hit at all in August, nor has it hit so far in October, so there is room for SugarHouse to climb back up the revenue ladder in the next report.

Parx table games still tops in PA

Parx Online Casino continues to lead the way when it comes to table games revenue, with over $500,000 in profit last month. The site did this despite a large dip activity from $35.5 million to $23.5 million. Nonetheless, Parx accounted for around 55% of all table games revenue, more than doubling the revenue of its next closest competitor.

Parx was the only casino of the three that saw a downturn in overall wagering on the site. The big decline was in table games, where profits still head steady. Slots revenue dd grow month over month, up from around $543,000 to $764,000.

State takes home over $2.5 million

Thanks to the hefty tax rate on slot revenue, the biggest winner of all was the state of Pennsylvania, which netted roughly $2.5 million in tax revenue. Just $144,00o of that came from table games. The rest is all slot tax revenue.
