Visions of the playoffs, and even an AFC North title danced in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ head going into their Week 16 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Instead, their offense delivered another lump of coal and for the fifth straight game didn’t score a touchdown in the first half. Even without Travis Kelce, the Chiefs never trailed and blew out the Steelers 36-10. The Chiefs easily covered the double digit spread (-10) and the game barely went over the total points line (45).
The loss to the Chiefs dropped the Steelers playoff hopes from 22% to 15%.
Ben Roethlisberger was replaced by Mason Rudolph with about two minutes left in the game. Roethlisberger, 39, has reportedly said this will be his last season with the Steelers. Roethlisberger’s last home game at Heinz Field might come during Week 17 when the Steelers host the Cleveland Browns (7-8). In Week 16, the Browns (7-8) lost on Christmas to the Green Bay Packers 24-22.
