Big winners in PA
A Powerball ticket sold in Philadelphia struck gold on Monday, winning $100,000 by matching 4 of the 5 white balls and the red PowerBall. The prize was doubled from $50,000 because the player spent the extra dollar for the PowerPlay option. The ticket was sold at Sunoco on Ashton road. Winners are not known until the prize is claimed and the ticket is validated by lottery officials.
This week in Allegheny county, the recent $1 million scratch-off winner claimed his prize. The Pennsylvania Lottery presented Ted Vallandingham with a commemorative check at the Uni-Mart where the winning $1,000,000 Extreme Green ticket was purchased on Dec. 3.
Vallandingham told the PA Lottery:
“It was quite amazing! I was in there scratching and I looked and said, ‘Oh! I won $1,000.’ The clerk came over and said, ‘Oh my gosh, you won $1 million!’ It was surreal!”
