Lottery changing with the times
With many lotto retailers still currently closed amid the pandemic, sales have gone down. That goes for Powerball and Mega Millions too. For that reason, there are some temporary changes to these drawings in effect until further notice.
The jackpot amounts will reset to $20 million each time they are hit. That is down from the previous minimum of $40 million.
The Powerball jackpot reached $190 million before it hit in New Jersey on April 8. That prompted the reset.
Additionally, jackpots now increase each drawing based on sales and interest rates, with no minimum increase from drawing to drawing.

Despite the changes, Powerball and Mega Millions continue with drawings at 11 p.m. For Powerball, those happen every Wednesday and Saturday. Find the winning numbers for the Wednesday, April 29 drawing here when they are available.
