How to place a horse bet online at TVG
Once you’re on the TVG app or website, make sure you select the correct track and race number. The Pimlico races will be featured on the homepage. But you can always scroll down to “track” and pick Pimlico to make sure.
Then, choose your bet type at the top. The $10 back promo is for “Win” bets.
“Place” bets (second place) pay if your horse finishes in second or first. “Show” bets (third) pay if your horse finishes first, second, or third. You will also see more advanced horse bets like exacta (first two finishers), trifecta (top three finishers), superfecta (top four) and more. You can also combine win/place/show bets, but the ticket will cost more.

Finally, once you pick your horse, select your bet amount. Click on the total bet to confirm and you’ll get a “bet placed” message.
Picking winners at the Preakness
As for which horses to pick on the 14-race Preakness Day card, that part is up to you. But there are some tools to help. For more on how to read a past performance report or horse betting program, see our guide linked above.
