Through the NFL playoffs and leading up to the Super Bowl on Feb. 13, there will be plenty of intense competition. But not just for the Lombardi Trophy. Perhaps the only thing that might get the same amount of coverage as Tom Brady is where to watch the Super Bowl. Plenty of lists will be made of the best places to watch the Super Bowl. They all boast similar superior amenities when it comes to watching playoff football and the Super Bowl. Many HD TVs, plenty of seating, good food, solid selection of beer and other drinks, and some game day promos.
Sportsbooks, sports bars, corner bars, and even your own couch are always in the running for most popular places to watch the Super Bowl. When you are betting on football and making in-game wagers, you want the right atmosphere.
If there are “best” places to watch, then there also have to be worst places to watch the Super Bowl. Here is our list in no particular order.
Worst places to watch the Super Bowl
With people who know nothing about football
It doesn’t just have to be for the Super Bowl. If you are a real fan, it’s torture to watch a game with people who know nothing about football. They are usually watching the game because the team is in the playoffs (bandwagon).
During the Super Bowl (unless your team is in the game) it is often unavoidable since it’s more a party atmosphere. If you are hosting a Super Bowl party, you can trim the guest list to people who are more football fans and usually, after halftime, those just there for the “fun” element tend to go home.
With people who talk during the Super Bowl
“Oh, you finished bingeing Cobra Kai? Great. It’s an hour before kickoff and I need to make my player props and hope the apps don’t crash.”
It’s the Super Bowl, not social hour. It doesn’t mean you have to sit in silence to watch the game. But take the non-football convos to another room.
The Olive Garden
I grew up watching my parents make sauce (we call it sauce, not gravy) from scratch on Sunday mornings. So, you already know how I feel about Olive Garden.
Of all the chain restaurants, Olive Garden would have to be one of the worst to watch the Super Bowl. “Soup, salad and breadsticks” is the polar opposite of what is on a traditional Super Bowl menu. I’ve also never heard anyone say “I’m gonna have a big plate of fettuccine alfredo while I watch the game.” The TV situation at Olive Garden is also abysmal.
With children under five years old
You take a seat on the coach at your friend’s Super Bowl party as the game is about to start. TV is turned up, drinks are poured…the neighbor walks in with an infant and a screaming two-year-old.

The Super Bowl at a strip club
This was actually suggested by a male friend of mine who would be considered a good judge of strip clubs. They are not the best place to view the Super Bowl. If you want to focus on the action on the field, you don’t want to be distracted by Amber on the pole. And if you really want to go, they will be open after the game. Also, food is one of the key traits of any great place to watch the Super Bowl and as Chris Rock and Cardi B say about food in strip clubs…just don’t.
