It’s a tradition unlike any other.
For starters, this year’s PGA Championship is being played in the middle of a pandemic. The entire PGA tour was suspended for months. And only now, about four months after the Masters — the PGA’s first major — was supposed to be played are golfers approaching one of the tour’s premier events.
So this year’s PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco is a little different. But the big names are still playing.
Tiger. Rory. Phil.
And of course the favorites are too, guys like Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka. There will be four days of high-level golf. And a trophy raised at the end.
So even if everything beforehand has been quite different, there are still plenty of reasons to watch. And just as many things to bet on. DraftKings is helping that cause too with promotions that can boost your betting profits up to 50% in the first round and 30% after that.

DraftKings profit boost for round one adds 50% to your return
With so many generous promotions available for the PGA Championship, it might make sense to wager on this event a little differently. DraftKings is boosting round one betting profits by 50%, so it’s wise to start with a close look at those odds. Pricing is available on the leader after round one, as well as top five, top 10 and top 20 finishers in the first round.
Currently, Justin Thomas is the favorite to be the round one leader, but his odds are an eye-popping +2000. Brooks Koepka is next at +2200, followed by Jon Rahm at +2800.
Bryson Dechambeau, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy are +3300. Tiger Woods is further down at +4000. And with the DraftKings promo, the return becomes even better. Here’s how it works:
- Following opt-in, you’ll be issued a single-use profit boost that you can use to place one bet on round one.
- You must select the boost from your bet slip before placing your bet to apply the boosted price.
- The 50% profit boost will apply to the winnings (winnings exclude your original bet).
- The max bet is $50.
- There’s a max of $250 additional winnings.
- If the boost does not appear, refresh the page or try opting in again.
- The profit boost expires at 11:59 p.m. EST on Aug. 6.
- It includes live bets and parlays.
- It excludes free bets, cash-out bets, voided bets and odds boosts.
- You must be in PA, NJ or WV.
Players will want to take a close look at the odds and available wagers, considering that the profit boost can only be applied to one bet.
Justin Thomas is the betting favorite to be the PGA Champion
Futures odds for the tournament’s eventual winner largely follow the first-round pricing. PA Bet Rivers and PlaySugarHouse have Thomas as the favorite at +800. Koepka (+1000), Dechambeau (+1400), Rahm (+1400) and McIlroy (+1400) are next. The rest of the top 20 and their pricing at BetRivers/PlaySugarHouse is as follows:

Odds are available on the entire field, including fan favorite Phil Mickelson (+8000), who is considered a bit of a long shot this weekend. Pricing also varies at FanDuel and FOX Bet, so players are wise to shop around. In addition to futures wagers on the winner, there are wagers available on group betting, straight forecasts and individual player props.
In that realm, DraftKings has boosted Tiger Woods to +100 to make the cut, up from -355 at the beginning of the tournament. Players interested in that wager need to make it before the tournament tees off. That bet carries a max of $50.
And in tournament rounds 2-4, DraftKings is boosting profits 30%. Players must opt in first, and the bet boost can only be used once. Other stipulations are similar to the first-round betting boost.
New users get a free ticket to DraftKings $3 million contest
Daily fantasy players can also chase some big money during this weekend’s PGA Championship. New users can get a free ticket to DraftKings’ $3 million Fantasy Golf Millionaire, which features a top prize of $1 million. Other players can enter for just $20.
On Sunday, DraftKings is offering a single-day showdown contest that has a total prize pool of $400K and a top prize of $100,000.
And over at FanDuel, there’s a $7 entry PGA Mega Eagle contest with a $500,000 prize pool and a top payout of $100,000. Both sites have contests available at all price points to fit your budget.
PGA Championship will be televised on ESPN, CBS
The PGA Championship, golf’s first major of perhaps its craziest year, tees off Thursday at 10 a.m. Television coverage will be broadcast from 4-10 p.m. Thursday and Friday on ESPN. On Saturday and Sunday, the early action airs on ESPN, with CBS picking up coverage later in the afternoon.
With the sport’s best players and one of its biggest prizes on the line, the PGA Championship should provide plenty of intrigue, especially with DraftKings boosting some of your returns.
