Week 2 NFL Lines: Steelers And Eagles Both Favored

<>

Written By Katie Kohler on September 10, 2019

The Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers Week 1 opponents were a study in disparity. The Washington Redskins entered the season with no hype and little hope. They jumped out to a 17-0 lead on the Eagles, who woke up and beat their division rival 32 -27.

The Pittsburgh Steelers Week 1 foe, the New England Patriots, entered the season with high hopes for a repeat and a high level of hype after signing embattled wide receiver Antonio Brown. New England easily handled the Steelers 33-3.

For Week 2, the Eagles and Steelers are both early favorites. We’ll be keeping an eye on the lines all week.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons preview

The Philadelphia Eagles bounced back in a big way during their season opener against the Washington Redskins. Down 17-0, the Eagles began to wake up at the end of the first half. They dialed up the much-awaited Carson Wentz-DeSean Jackson deep ball for two touchdowns and the Redskins rolled over in the second half. The Eagles won 32-27.

The Atlanta Falcons present a bigger challenge at quarterback and wide receiver for the Eagles. Coming off a lackluster 28-12 loss to the Vikings, they will be looking to avoid an 0-2 start.

Both teams thrive during night games. In the course of five years, the Falcons are 5-0 in home night games and 4-1 against the spread. The Eagles are also “night owls.” They are 8-2 in their last ten primetime games and 7-3 against the spread.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a 33-3 drubbing from the defending Super Bowl Champions New England Patriots.

How will they rebound, and replace the replace the production of running back Le’Veon Bell and traded Antonio Brown?

One thing that isn’t in question is head coach Mike Tomlin’s ability to avoid 0-2 starts. Since 2007, the Steelers only started 0-2 once.

The Seahawks eked by the Bengals last week 21-20. The usually reliable Russell Wilson isn’t great in September. In nine September road games,  the Seahawks are just 1-8 straight up and 0-8-1 against the spread.

Philadelphia Eagles Week 1 Line review

The operators of PlaySugarHouse.com say the Philadelphia Eagles were the most popular moneyline bet of the week. The Birds were also heavily backed to cover the spread with 90% of tickets on the Eagles to cover.

After an early deficit, the Eagles came back to win easily. While the moneyline pick was a winner, a late Redskins touchdown covered the spread for the underdogs.

The touchdown with six seconds left didn’t change the outcome of the game. But had a mighty impact elsewhere. Philly.com reported on the game.

It was a “monster swing from Pacific to Atlantic,” said William Hill’s Nick Bogdanovich.

Jeff Davis, director of trading for Caesars Entertainment, was asked if it was a six-figure swing. “Into seven figures,” he told the publication.
